The Japan International MANGA Award was established in 2007 to recognize non-Japanese manga artists who contribute to the spread of manga culture internationally. The award celebrates creativity, originality, and excellence in storytelling throughts.
đ¨ Eligibility: Open to non-Japanese manga artists. Works must be published (digitally or in print) or unpublished but complete.
đĽ Award Categories:
Gold Awardâ1 winner (invited to Japan for the award ceremony + cultural exchange)
Silver Awardâ3 winners (also invited to Japan)
Bronze AwardâMultiple winners (certificate and recognition)
âď¸ Fully Funded Trip: Gold and Silver winners receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Japan to attend the award ceremony and network with manga industry professionals.
đ Submission Period: Typically from April to July 2025 (exact dates to be confirmed on the official website).
đ Global Reach: Open to artists worldwide, excluding Japan.
Your work must be over 16 pages and fit the manga format.
It can be previously published or unpublished.
Translations into English or Japanese are highly recommended if your original work is in another language.

You can submit your entry in one of two ways:
Print and mail two copies of your manga and the completed form to your nearest Japanese embassy or consulate.
Some embassies accept online submissions. Check with the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your country.
Finalists will be contacted around late 2025.
Winners will be announced on the official website and via email.
Gold and Silver Award winners will be invited to Japan for the award ceremony and cultural program.

Even if your story is in your native language, consider adding English or Japanese translations to increase your chances.
